What is The Shift? It’s the story of the most important moment of your life—when you stop striving and start arriving! It’s the choice you make to move toward a life that gathers up the pieces of your best, most fulfilled, most loving self. It’s the moment when you start living a life rich with meaning and begin playing the music you came here to play!
Are you ready to make the shift that changes everything? When will you find the joy, the peace, and the love that you came here to give and to receive? In this inspiring movie, you’ll enjoy an engaging, heartwarming and humorous tale of transformation on vacation. You’ll marvel at the beauty of the windswept ocean scenery. Share the characters’ delight as they receive the most precious gift—permission to follow their hearts. Hear Wayne say, “Don’t die with your music still in you” and see everyone set free to join the orchestra!
Join Wayne Dyer and a star-studded cast for a story that will capture your imagination and send you on your own quest for a life of meaning and purpose. In The Shift, we share the stories of three modern lives in crisis—a young mother who nurtures everyone but herself, an overachieving husband who has forgotten what love means, and a moviemaker desperate for the opportunity that will make him worthy in his own eyes. Every life has a turning point, a shift, a choice to make about what really matters.
Early in life, we follow the path mapped out by ego, a path of ambition, competition, and striving. When midlife dawns, we too often find ourselves stranded in a lonely and desolate place we never intended to visit. Our feelings of sadness and frustration tell us we took a wrong turn. Like a shift in the wind or a change in the tide, the yearning we feel at midlife is a call to renewal. The Shift shows us the path home, the path to rediscovering our true self, our purpose, and the life of meaning that is our true calling.

Best-selling author, beloved spiritual teacher, and internationally renowned lecturer Dr. Wayne Dyer returns to PBS for his ninth public broadcasting presentation, WISHES FULFILLED. In this special, taped in Escondido, California on October 21, 2011, he once again offers an inspiring and motivational message to viewers. Based on his book Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering the Art of Manifesting (Hay House, March, 2012) WISHES FULFILLED presents Dr. Dyer’s main message: It is possible for every person to live an extraordinary life. What’s more, it is possible for every person to manifest their deepest desires — if they honor their inner divinity, consciously choose to live from their “Highest Self,” and practice the steps outlined in his presentation. DR. WAYNE DYER: WISHES FULFILLED is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations beginning March 3, 2012 (Check local listings at http://www.pbs.org/tvschedules/).
Using his trademark humor, Dr. Dyer introduces The Five Wishes Fulfilled Foundations, outlining a program for mastering the tools necessary for living a profoundly satisfying life. Viewers will learn how to use Imagination, Living from the End, Assuming the Feeling of the Wish Fulfilled, Attention, and the Last Five Minutes of Each Day to create new and astonishing thought patterns, while defeating unproductive and recurring habits.
As is his practice, Dr. Dyer introduces viewers to provocative and original thinkers, including New Thought philosophers and authors Neville Goddard and Uell S. Andersen. He also cites teachings from the Old and New Testaments, the “I Am” Discourses, and shares poetry from Emily Dickinson, William Blake and others.
Special guest Anita Moorjani shares the stage with Dr. Dyer for an emotional interview. Anita, the survivor of a Near Death Experience, shares her perceptions of that experience with Dr. Dyer. The program concludes with a deeply moving performance of “Amazing Grace” by the San Diego Children’s Choir.
Since his last PBS lecture special (Excuses Begone!), Dr. Dyer received a diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Today, he is enjoying good health and openly discusses his cancer diagnosis in this program.
Some of the key points that Dr. Dyer makes during the course of WISHES FULFILLED include the concept that “if you would like to accomplish something, you must first expect it of yourself.” He offers the poem “There’s A Hole in My Sidewalk,” which sets the stage — literally — for understanding the importance of going down a new street in life. And, to the delight of the audience, he proves that “we are not our bodies” by sharing a photo montage of himself — from infancy to the present!
With self-deprecating humor, Dr. Dyer explains how being listed as third on the “Most Spiritually Influential People” Internet list creates a funny battle of the ego. Humor also infuses his explanation of the power of the subconscious to control most of our thinking, when he demonstrates his knowledge of Morse code — learned 50 years earlier during his stint in the U.S. Navy.
He offers rules for developing a “healthy” imagination, and explains Neville Goddard’s quote: “A change of feeling is a change of destiny.” Dr. Dyer explains why the last five minutes of every day are the most important of your life, along with a powerful practice that can immediately be put to use before going to sleep. But his most affecting teaching is taken directly from the story of Moses in the Old Testament: how saying the words “I Am” creates a direct connection with one’s highest calling.
Dr. Dyer reminds viewers: “You can live and feel as if your future dreams are a present fact!” His belief in the power of every person to change his or her life, and live from the greatest possibilities, continues to keep PBS viewers absorbed and delighted by this marvelous teacher.
PBS special programming invites viewers to experience the worlds of science, history, nature and public affairs; hear diverse viewpoints; and take front-row seats to world-class drama and performances. Viewer contributions are an important source of funding, making PBS programs possible. PBS and public television stations offer all Americans from every walk of life the opportunity to explore new ideas and new worlds through television and online content.

The Wisdom of Wayne Dyer
After more than 30 years of teaching and inspiring millions, Dr. Wayne Dyer continues to share his vision in service to others – changing lives one person at a time
By Tammy Mastroberte
If you ask a person who is passionate about spiritual and self-improvement topics to name some of their favorite authors, odds are the name Dr. Wayne Dyer would fall near the top of the list. Many discovered him on a public broadcasting station (PBS) while flipping through the television channels, while others may have found themselves attracted to his work during one of his many television or radio show interviews.
However, no matter how they came across the work of Dr. Wayne Dyer, the result is always the same — people’s lives are changed for the better.
“The favorite part of my work, and it happens every day, is encountering people whose lives have been turned around because of the work that I’ve done,” Dyer tells me during our interview in October. “Just knowing that you’re making a difference in the lives of other people is the most gracious, fun-filled, love experience that you can have.”
For more than 30 years, Dyer has inspired and elevated the consciousness of millions all over the world, assisting them in shifting their awareness to a higher level. But like all of us, Dyer has faced his own share of challenges and obstacles in life, such as growing up in foster homes and orphanages as a young boy, suffering the pain of divorce and battling addictions. However, rather than allowing these things to bring him down, Dyer found ways to lift himself up — and then set out to share them with the world.
“Everything that shows up in my life, whether it’s leukemia, heart disease, divorce, being abandoned by parents, I see from the perspective of ‘It has something to teach me,’ and I guess I’ve just always done that my whole life,” he says.
This year, Elevated Existence is honoring Dyer with its 3rd Annual Elevated Existence Spiritual Service Award, given to one individual each year whose actions, intentions and work spread the gift of spirituality, enlighten others with knowledge and tools to improve the quality of their lives, and contribute to the overall uplifting of the world’s consciousness. With every book, television special, interview or speech, Dyer does this and more.
In the below interview, Dyer looks back on his life and how it shaped him into the man he is today. He also reveals the inspiration behind his newest book, “Wishes Fulfilled,” provides details about the new movie “My Greatest Teacher,” based on his real-life struggle to forgive his father — a man he never met — as well as advice on manifesting and so much more.
Nobody says it better than Dr. Wayne Dyer. Here he is, in his own words:
Elevated Existence (EE): How do you think your early life set you up for what was to come, which is essentially helping others learn to help themselves?
Dr. Wayne Dyer: I think there is a force in the universe that directs everything, and there are no accidents, anywhere. This divine force is what is growing our hair, growing our fingernails, beating our heart, digesting our food, and all of the other incredible mysteries that we look at and take for granted. My showing up on this planet and living for the first 10 years or so of my life in a series of foster homes and orphanages was all perfect. That is how I’ve always looked at it.
I came here to teach self-reliance, and that is what I’ve been teaching since I was in grade school. I taught my brother, who lived this and went through this with me, to rely on himself. I taught him not to live in fear because he was scared and bullied a bit, and he was anemic. I always talked to him about relying on yourself and trusting in yourself. When you grow up without parents around you learn to rely upon yourself, and once you get that and understand that, no one can ever persuade you from it as you go through your life.
EE: Tell us about your new book “Wishes Fulfilled.” What is it about?
Dyer: “Wishes Fulfilled” is really based upon the teachings of three people — Neville Goddard, who passed away in 1972 and lectured back in the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s; U.S. Andersen, who wrote “Three Magic Words;” and the teachings of the “I Am Discourses” of St. Germaine. It’s really a combination of all of those, and it’s the recognition that everything that now exists was once imagined. If you look around at everything you see, it was once imagined. It was once a thought in somebody’s mind and then it hardened into a fact.
The No. 1 principle is that if you would like to be able to create something, you must first be able to imagine it, because everything that is created is first imagined. But that’s just the intellectual part of it. To understand something intellectually, you intellectualize about it, concentrate on it, come up with formulas about it, read books about it, hear other people’s opinions, and deduce things. You apply deductive reasoning, and then you come to a conclusion intellectually. But to understand something spiritually, you must experience it, and the only way you can experience it is to become it.
So the practice of “I am” is to be able to assume the feeling of the wish already fulfilled. You do this with whatever it is you would like to attract into your life, whatever kind of person you would like to be or whatever you would like to manifest, as long as it’s aligned with source energy or God, and doesn’t interfere with anybody else’s right to do the same. You must be able to not only live from that place, but also be able to feel it, and that means feel it in your body and literally experience it.
Somewhere in the Bible, it says, “He called things that do not exist, exist they did,” speaking about God and speaking about the highest place within ourselves. You have to be able to look at the world, ignore what your five senses tell you, and realize that the great truths are in the mysterious and the invisible. And also be able to place it into your imagination. In the Old Testament, in the Book of Joel, it says, “The weak say I am strong.” You must be able to say I am strong, and to feel that, and assume the feeling of that wish fulfilled, and never allow anything to take your attention away from what it is you would like to attract into your life — like someone telling you it can’t happen, or it’s not possible, or even what your senses tell you. Don’t slip into, “It’s not happening fast enough. I want it to come now,” and so on.
You just have to be willing to ignore all of that and know that what you are imagining is your reality, and it will harden into a fact within divine time, as long as you don’t allow yourself to say, “Oh this isn’t going to work” or to put doubt into it. And that is where almost everybody falls down. They say, “I am strong,” and then they look at themselves and say, “I am sick.” You have to be able to say, “I am well,” regardless of what the monitor says, and what your doctor tells you, and even what your senses tell you.
You have to live from that place. You cannot harden it into a fact until you’re able to live from that inner place.
EE: Tell us about the new movie coming out based on your early life, “My Greatest Teacher.” Dyer: This movie is based on a signature moment in my life. I have told the story, and when I talked to the people at Hay House who are doing a series of shorter films on things about the miraculous, they wanted to film it.
I’ve told the story over the years about trying to find my father and all the miracles that took place, which eventually sent me to his grave. Before that, in 1974, I was 34 years old, and I was filled with rage, hatred and anger toward this man. I used to dream about him all the time, and I was just out of sorts. I was drinking, overweight and so many things were just not working in my life. My writing wasn’t going the way I wanted it to, my relationships were terrible, and I was eating awful foods and drinking. Then I ended up at my father’s grave through a series of mystical events, which are impossible to describe or to have any logic behind them, but all of it was true. I ended up being sent to my father’s grave to forgive him. It was that act of forgiveness that changed my life.
The reason it was a turning point in my life is, right after I left my father’s grave in August 1974, I rented a motel room and wrote a book called “Your Erroneous Zones,” in 14 days from beginning to end. I just handwrote the whole thing, and it went on to become a worldwide best-seller, and still is to this day. Everything in my life changed after that because I got the rage out of my heart, and I filled it with love. I sent love to this man who I previously had always sent hatred toward, and when you fill yourself with love, you become aligned with your source. You become aligned with God, and that alignment is what I think made all the shifts in my life.
I stopped feeling sorry for myself, and stopped the destructive habits that I had. I stopped drinking, eating greasy foods, and began to change my life around dramatically. Almost everything I wrote after that became a best-seller.
Mark Twain says, “Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.” It’s the ability to send love when someone sends you what you think of as hatred or shortages, or whatever it may be.

Don't miss Dr. Dyer's Public Television special! Dr. Dyer's television special, Excuses Begone! airs this month. Check your local listings to find out what times Wayne's extraordinary public television special will be broadcast in your area and get ready to say, "Excuses Begone!"
Learn how to change the self-defeating thinking patterns that have prevented you from living at the highest levels of success, happiness, and health by saying Begone—to all your excuses! You'll ultimately realize that there are no excuses worth defending, ever, even if they've always been a part of your life—and the joy of releasing them will permeate to your very core and you'll awaken to the life of your dreams.
Move out of established thought patterns and realize that there is nothing standing in your way of living at your highest levels. Find out how with Excuses Begone!
In his PBS special and the Excuses Begone! book, Dr. Dyer also discusses the research of two of his colleagues, Dr. Bruce Lipton and Richard Brodie, to help us challenge our excuses and embrace new beliefs.
The Biology of Belief by Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D is a groundbreaking work in the field of new biology, and it will forever change how you think about thinking. Through the research of Dr. Lipton and other leading-edge scientists, stunning new discoveries have been made about the interaction between your mind and body and the processes by which cells receive information. It shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology, that instead DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our thoughts. Using simple language, illustrations, humor, and everyday examples, he demonstrates how the new science of Epigenetics is revolutionizing our understanding of the link between mind and matter and the profound effects it has on our personal lives and the collective life of our species.
"I encourage you to immerse yourself in The Biology of Belief. You’ll be inspired to reset your mind to the possibility that your beliefs carry far more weight than you realized in determining what you can do, what you’ll undertake, and how far you’re capable of going." —Dr. Wayne Dyer
In addition to our genetic makeup, the other big excuse that most of us use to justify unhappiness, poor health, and lack of success is the family and cultural conditioning we’ve been programmed with. To that end, there’s a fascinating area of inquiry known as memetics, which deals with the mind and is analogous to the relationship of genetics to the body.
Virus of the Mind by Richard Brodie is the first popular book devoted to the science of memetics, a controversial new field that transcends psychology, biology, anthropology, and cognitive science. Memetics is the science of memes, the invisible but very real DNA of human society. According to Brodie, it’s "a thought, belief, or attitude in your mind that can spread to and from other people’s minds." In Virus of the Mind, Richard Brodie carefully builds on the work of scientists Richard Dawkins, Douglas Hofstadter, Daniel Dennett, and others who have become fascinated with memes and their potential impact on our lives.
"Your beliefs have made these memes seem like second nature to you. While excuses are just thoughts or beliefs, you are the decider of what you ultimately store away as your guide to life." —Dr. Wayne Dyer

At such an important time in our world where many people are forced to recreate themselves and re-evaluate their priorities, internationally renowned author and speaker Dr. Wayne W. Dyer boldly tells people to stop making excuses and start living the life of their dreams.
In his 35th book, Excuses Begone! How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits (May 26, 2009), Dr. Dyer tells readers to ask themselves, “If no one told me who I was, who would I be?” By identifying 18 of the most common excuses and providing an accompanying affirmation, Dr. Dyer claims now is a time of immense opportunity to change life-long thinking patterns and access new levels of success and happiness. “The most common excuses I hear are: If I changed, it would create family dramas . . . I’m too old or too young . . . I’m far too busy and tired . . . I can’t afford the things I truly want . . . It would be very difficult for me to do things differently . . . and I’ve always been this way; it’s in my DNA. I know people believe these statements are true, but in fact they are just excuses, says Dr. Dyer.”
Excuses Begone! is also the subject of Dr. Dyer’s 8thth national public television special, which began airing nationwide June 1, 2009. Dr. Dyer has raised millions of dollars for PBS television through his PBS specials over the last decade. Catch Dr. Wayne Dyer on PBS throughout the month of December—check your local listings for air time.

Dr. Wayne Dyer's transformational book, Excuses Begone!, is now available in trade paper!
Within the pages of this transformational book, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer reveals how to change the self-defeating thinking patterns that have prevented you from living at the highest levels of success, happiness, and health. Even though you may know what to think, actually changing those thinking habits that have been with you since childhood might be somewhat challenging.
If I changed, it would create family dramas . . .
I’m too old or too young . . .
I’m far too busy and tired . . .
I can’t afford the things I truly want . . .
It would be very difficult for me to do things differently . . .
and I’ve always been this way . . . may all seem to be true, but they’re in fact just excuses. So the business of modifying habituated thinking patterns really comes down to tossing out the same tired old excuses and examining your beliefs in a new and truthful light.
In this groundbreaking work, Wayne presents a compendium of conscious and subconscious crutches employed by virtually everyone, along with ways to cast them aside once and for all. You’ll learn to apply specific questions to any excuse, and then proceed through the steps of a new paradigm. The old, habituated ways of thinking will melt away as you experience the absurdity of hanging on to them.
You’ll ultimately realize that there are no excuses worth defending, ever, even if they’ve always been part of your life—and the joy of releasing them will resonate throughout your very being. When you eliminate the need to explain your shortcomings or failures, you’ll awaken to the life of your dreams.
Available through Hay House, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and anywhere books are sold.

Dan Caro has been proving the world wrong since he was in diapers. When he was two years old, he was engulfed in a fireball during a gasoline explosion in the family garage and was left with third-degree burns over most of his body—so severe that doctors held out little hope he’d survive more than a few days. Dan was in such excruciating pain that his devastated parents silently prayed for God to end their son’s suffering and welcome him into heaven. And it seemed as if God was willing to oblige—Dan technically died on the operating table several times in the hours following the accident.
But even though his heart stopped, Dan’s spirit wasn’t ready to give up . . . somehow he knew he had work to do. Despite the odds, Dan survived, but life would not be easy. The fire left him badly maimed and disfigured. His hands were burned away, as was most of his skin and nearly all of his face. He would endure years of painful surgeries and endless months of lonely isolation in burn units, only to suffer the agony of social rejection, shunned and called “monster” by both children and adults in his Louisiana hometown.
With the support of his loving parents and siblings, Dan did not despair. He kept his heart open to the world and focused on the positive energy around him. Before his sixth birthday, he vowed that his life would not be defined by the way others saw him or the restrictions of his so-called physical handicaps. Dan set himself a series of life goals, starting with the art of tying his shoelaces without fingers. Once he had achieved that milestone, he decided he could do anything . . . so why not learn to play the drums?
When Dan was told he’d never be able to do so, he promised himself that one day he’d become one of the most accomplished drummers in the city that gave jazz its name—New Orleans! Since that day, Dan’s music has inspired thousands, and many more have also been inspired by his personal philosophy of focusing on the positive, refusing to accept limits, and living life with an open heart. Today, the young man who was once shunned and called “monster” by his neighbors is very much in demand as a public speaker and travels the country encouraging others to not just overcome life’s hardships, but to view adversity as a gift that can drive us toward reaching our full potential.
The Gift of Fire is Dan’s first book.

The Shift—a companion book to the movie of the same name—illustrates how and why to make the move from ambition to meaning. Such a shift eliminates our feelings of separateness, illuminates our spiritual connectedness, and involves moving from the ego-directed morning into the afternoon of life where everything is primarily influenced by purpose.
As we contemplate leaving the morning of our life, where ego has played a commanding role, and entering the afternoon (and evening), where meaning and purpose replace ambition and struggle, we may encounter unexpected occurrences that accompany this new direction. It’s almost a universal law that we’ll experience a fall of some kind. Yet these falls or low points provide the energy we need to move away from ego and into a life of meaning and purpose.
The Shift doesn’t mean that we lose our drive and ambition; it signifies that we become ambitious about something new. We make a commitment to living a life based on experiencing meaning and feeling purposeful, rather than never-ending demands and false promises that are the trademark of the ego’s agenda.

Wishes Fulfilled! A Dr. Wayne W. Dyer World Cinema Premiere
Presented by Screenvision and Cinema Events
Premiere Performance Exclusive In Theaters Nationwide January 28, 2010, With One Encore Performance in Early February 2010.
On Thursday, January 28, 2010, a new and unique cinema experience will be offered to moviegoers nationwide - for the first time ever, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, best-selling author of more than 30 books and affectionately known as "the father of motivation" by fans, brings "Wishes Fulfilled," his newest motivational presentation, to theatres as a special Cinema Event.
"Wishes Fulfilled" is produced by Cinema Events, LLC, in cooperation with Hay House, Inc. and is distributed by Screenvision. "Wishes Fulfilled" was created at Hay House's late-2009 "I Can Do It!" conference in Tampa, Florida where Dr. Dyer delivered to over 3,000 attendees an empowering exploration of the dynamics of our thought processes, and revealed how the ancient wisdom of the Tao Te Ching helped him shift from ambition to a new kind of meaningful consciousness. Dr. Dyer's enlightening address was shot in high definition with digital surround sound exclusively for the cinema.
Hay House's unique "I Can Do It!" conferences featuring Dr. Dyer are generally held only twice a year in varied locations worldwide; this is an unprecedented showing for Dr. Dyer. For the first time, viewers will be treated to a full-length motivational workshop by way of the silver screen, delivering a unique, front row experience. This is a rare and up-close opportunity to experience this renowned author and expert in the field of self-development.
As a special gift from Dr. Dyer, "Wishes Fulfilled" moviegoers will receive a free download of his program "Putting the Excuses Begone! Paradigm Into Action to Work in Your Life," a twenty dollar value, free with admission.
"In preparing 'Wishes Fulfilled' for the theatre, our goal was to provide fans and friends who were not able to make it to our conferences with the same up-close and inspiring experience we always strive to deliver," says Dr. Dyer. "I'm quite proud of this production and appreciate the partners that worked with me to make this a reality."
"Dr. Dyer has so many fans around the country. This is a tremendous opportunity to bring his most recent and moving guidance to more people in such a sensible way," says Megan Tarter, Co-Producer. "We wanted to produce a film that befits the importance of Dr. Dyer's message and deliver it to moviegoers."
"The self-help/self-development field is exploding, and we believe there is strong demand to experience the inspiration of one of America's foremost motivational gurus on such an impactful platform as the big screen," said Darryl Schaffer, Executive Vice President, Exhibitor Relations for Screenvision.

Dr. Wayne W Dyer spent 2006 immersed in the ancient teachings of Lao-tzu, studying his monumental tome, the Tao Te Ching. He read, meditated, lived, and then wrote an essay on each of the 81 verses of the Tao, which many have called the wisest book ever written. That collection of essays is titled Change Your Thoughts--Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao. He learned, and to this day practices, what to think through all that Lao-tzu taught him in that year.
Excuses Begone, was also influenced by that eminent master Lao-tzu. Since the Tao Te Ching taught him what kind of thinking harmonized with our higher selves, he asked Lao-tzu for advice on how to change long established habits of thought. Wayne realized that knowing what to think does not necessarily clarify how to go about changing a lifetime of habitual thinking. He has drawn on Lao-tzu’s wisdom by contemplating his teachings and asking for his guidance on what it takes to bring about a change in the long held habits of thought that manifest as excuses.
In this tour, Wayne will take you through the seven questions that constitute the Excuses Begone paradigm and show you how this paradigm worked on himself and how it can work for you. By examining the support system that a person has erected over a long period of time, often going back to early childhood, and putting these time worn thoughts through the seven steps in this paradigm, excuses begin to fade away, and are replaced with thoughts that speak fervently, almost shouting, Yes, you can change any excuse pattern, no matter how long or how pervasive has been the conditioning process.
Wayne has seen people give up a lifetime of being overweight or addicted to all manner of substances by simply applying the principles that are inherent in the Excuses Begone approach to life.
If you are truly serious about changing any long established habits of thought that have led you to use excuses as your rationale for staying the same, then I encourage you to follow the principles and practices presented in this lecture!
